Hello all!
Today was a special day, Andrew's birthday! Today he turned 31, so it was time to celebrate. It started out with some gifts, Blazing Saddles via Joe and Christina, and a shark dive experience from Lili and her parents, to be scheduled at a later date, something for you all to look forward to.

After a nice mellow morning it was time to head out. With an inch of snow that fell last night quickly fading away, we headed out into the sun and wind storm that is an Edinburgh winter.

No birthday is complete without cake, cupcakes that is! Lili has spent much time researching where to get the best cupcakes, both her and Andrew have a very discerning pallete when it comes to cake and cupcakes. Not only do they have to advantage with being friends with an amazing cake decorator back in Florida, but, for those who were there know, Lili grew up and exposed all at their wedding to the amazingness that is Cake Love in D.C. Cuckoo's Bakery is supposedly the best in the city, and one of the only bakeries to use buttercream and not fondont. Time will only tell how they stack up to our sweets spoiled tastes.

Back at the house, we were joined by Amanda, Cash, and Stevie for some pizza and good conversation. We gorged and managed to put away 3 out of 4 pizzas, with the majority of the credit going to Cash.

Even in our flat, small compared to the house in Florida, has plenty of counch space for everyone to lounge around on, even with Audry spreading out as much as possible.

Next came the big test, how do the vanilla and chocolate cupcakes from New Town in Edinburgh stack up? Audry was quite upset about that she was not included in this trans Atlantic taste test, and tried to convince the weakest link to give her some of the sugar filled goodness that is a cupcake.

Smiles of approval all around, a good cupcake by any standard, and so far the best Andrew and Lili have tried in Edinburgh. We will be back to try out more baked goods and to fulfill our sugar cravings from time to time.

All said and done, it was a good day with good friends and good cake. The best news was Lili was able to give her tired fingers a break from 4 days embroidering for hours upon hours upon hours... well you get the idea.

Back to the grind tomorrow, more embroidering and preparing for the next event.
More soon!
