Conspiracy Theories

Hello all!
Today was a day full of history. First off we all jumped on the 15 and headed down to Roslsyn Chapel...at least we thought we were. Unknown to us, the bus company decided to change bus routes, so we were forced to wait for the proper bus to arrive and take us to Rosslyn.

Finally, 45 minutes after we planned on being there, we arrived at Rosslyn Chapel. For those who are not regular readers of this blog, Andrew had already been and done a post about the trip here with his parents a month ago, so this time we shall avoid the theories of the templars, the holy grail, masons and the second coming of the aliens to pick us up and bring us back home. Instead, here are some lovely pictures of the amazing stone work that is Rosslyn Chapel.

Gargoyles!

William (the cat) is the caretaker of the chapel, and everyone's favorite part.

Sunny blue skies and mild temperatures kept us all happy for another unScottish weather day.

Warm weather meant the outside tables were all taken, but tea and scones were consumed none the less.

Wandering around the chapel takes some effort, so Lili and her parents decided a nice quiet afternoon full of massive cups of hot coco were in order, so that is precisely what they did. A trip to the Chocolate Tree for some artisinal coco, hazelnut for Catherine and winter spice for Lili and Gary, paired with four honey cinnamon macaroons.

Andrew, David and Andrew went about making their way to Craigmillar Castle. Located in between Arthur's Seat and the Royal Infermary, these ruins are a sight to see, and only made better by the lack of tourists. Having a castle that is in pristine condition really does lessen the load of ruins, but the trip out is well worth it. Clambering up and down three stories at various points makes everything feel like a labrinth. Offering up completely different vistas of the city than we were used to, Craigmillar is calling for a second visit.

David kept trying to see what was up the chimenys, sadly no pigeons decided to grace him with good luck.

Nothing up here either.

There were two massive yew trees upon entering the front door of the ruins.

Inside the ruins.

More soon!
